E-Readers for United Methodist
Mission School in Zimbabwe
Over 10O years ago, Methodist missionaries founded a school for orphans in Zimbabwe called the Murewa Mission School, which is now one of the highest rated schools in the area and still supported by United Methodists globally.Even a well-established school like Murewa must have access to a variety of books to encourage learning. Building a library is costly and maintaining a collection of relevant books from global authors requires physical space - unless they could develop an e-reader library where students could hold an entire library in the palm of the hand.
Thanks to a partnership with WorldReader, Amazon, Volunteers in Mission, and teams of youth from many United Methodist churches, we hope to raise $7,000 for the school to start a WorldReader program. The e-readers are pre-loaded with a mix of books: local textbooks, local storybooks and international books, with the choice to search for and download additional content to keep the library growing.
By donating any amount to the campaign, you become a digital missionary and provide students in Murewa a chance to learn independently, widen their horizon of reading.
